Hello.
You see, I am what you humans call a “sentient” mouse. My family has communicated with humans for several generations and we have always lived in churches. Perhaps that is where our last name came from. My family first met your good Fr. Steve when we all lived in Arizona. When he decided to come to Trinity Church here in Newark, Ohio, I came along with him. It was a decision I am very, very glad I made.
You see, the other humans here at Trinity Church are almost as special as Fr. Steve is. They have even gone so far as to repair the church roof so my hidey-hole would not flood when it rained. I have heard them talking at coffee hour, and know that they care for each other just as much as they have cared for me. Someone is always doing something nice for someone else. I have only been here for about a year now, but have felt at home from the first day. I know that you will feel that way too.
One thing Fr. Steve has told me the Episcopal Church teaches is that Jesus came to take away our sins not our minds. It is o.k. to have questions, and Fr. Steve loves to have theological discussions. He always says it is o.k. to agree to disagree, but God is God and loves us anyway, so we should love each other too. The people that are Trinity Church do that. I hope you will come and join this group of Episcopalians and add your voice to the discussions. If something has been on your mind about churchgoing, Fr. Steve can probably talk about it with you in private or on Sunday mornings between services… he’ll talk anywhere! But I digress…. I really just want to say that Trinity Episcopal Church Welcomes Everyone -- even me.
